Attn: LMHA families and players

As you are all aware, the province of Alberta has declared a State of Public Health Emergency, and several mandates and restrictions have been put in place that we are required to follow. We wanted to let you know what those changes are and what will be required for our coaches, bench staff, managers, players and their families.

Firstly, all coaches, bench staff and managers are required to be fully vaccinated by October 25, 2021, and will be demonstrating proof of vaccination to LMHA, or proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within the 72 hours prior to any practice or game.

Next, all players age 12 and over are required to be vaccinated by October 25, 2021 to be able to play. Parents/guardians will need to show proof of vaccination for their child to a designated person on their child’s team. A copy of the documentation does not need to be provided; visual confirmation is sufficient. Once all players documentation has been confirmed, the team designate will send in paperwork to LMHA stating that they have visually confirmed the vaccine documentation for all players on the team. For those children who are not vaccinated, you will be required to show proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within the 72 hours prior to any game or practice.

As players under the age of 12 are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine, there is no additional paperwork required for your child.

Finally, all spectators - parents, siblings 12 and over, grandparents, etc. will need to provide proof of vaccination prior to attending any practice or game. Once this documentation has been shown to the designated person on your child’s team, we will create a small card specific to you and your family confirming that proof of vaccination has already been provided. You will need to have this card on you any time you are at a practice, game or tournament. Please be aware that out of town games and tournaments may require you to present your actual vaccine documentation prior to admittance to the rink. For any spectators who are eligible to receive a vaccine , but are not vaccinated, they will be required to show proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within the 72 hours prior to any game or practice they choose to watch.

To ensure that players and families don’t miss any of their season, we ask that you have your documentation available and ready to present to the designated person on your child’s team as soon as the season begins. We appreciate your assistance and support with this. This isn’t how we wanted our season to be but are hopeful that if we follow the mandated requirements set out by the province, that we will be able to have a great season!

Kind regards,
Anne Kish
