Province's "Restrictions Exemption Program"

Sep. 18, 2021

September 17, 2021

Attn: All LMHA Coaches, Bench Staff and Team Managers

As you are all aware, the province of Alberta has declared a State of Public Health Emergency, and several mandates and restrictions have been put in place that we are required to follow.  All coaches, bench staff and team managers are required to be fully vaccinated by October 25, 2021, and to show proof of this.  We will be collecting this documentation and retaining it for the duration of the 2021-2022 hockey season. If you are not vaccinated, you will be required to show proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test completed within the 72 hours prior to any practice or game.

All children age 12 and older will also be required to be fully vaccinated by October 25, 2021 , and to show proof of vaccination.  This documentation will not be collected but will need to be verified by a team manager or designate for your team.  It may be beneficial to add an additional volunteer role to your team to coordinate this information.  A spreadsheet will be sent to each team for verification that each player age 12 and older, has had their vaccine documentation confirmed.  If a child is not vaccinated, they will be required to show proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test completed within the 72 hours prior to any practice or game.

All spectators will also be required to show proof of vaccination to the designated person on their team. A second spreadsheet will be provided to teams to capture this information, and once submitted we will create a card specific to that person/family that they can show at future practices or games as proof that their vaccination has been verified. Any spectators that are not vaccinated will be required to show proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test completed within the 72 hours prior to any practice or game they choose to watch.

This documentation will be compiled into a team profile that will be accessible only to LMHA staff, and to the designated person on your team. Please be aware that out of town games may require players and spectators to present their documentation before being admitted into the rink.

So that there aren’t any delays to our season, we ask that you provide your vaccine documentation promptly.  Please send all vaccine documentation for yourself to anne.kish@telus.net so that we can begin to create the team profiles. Please include your name, division and team name along with you vaccine documentation in your email.

An email will be sent out to all families explaining the process and provincial requirements for families.  We appreciate your assistance and support with this.  This isn’t how we wanted our season to be but are hopeful that if we follow the mandated requirements set out by the province, that we will be able to have a great season!

Kind regards,

Anne Kish
